Pittsburgh Steelers safety DeShon Elliott agreed to a two-year, $12.5 million extension that includes $9.21 million in guarantees, NFL Network reported.

Elliott elected to stay with the Steelers despite the team signing quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a one-year contract. Elliott previously said “leave his (expletive) in the retirement home” when the topic of Rodgers joining the Steelers first emerged.

While the Steelers have yet to publicly announce the extension, Elliott confirmed the deal on social media Tuesday.

“Grateful to the Rooney family, (general manager) Omar Khan and Coach (Mike) Tomlin for bringing me to Pittsburgh and giving me a home. Thankful to be extended for two more years to play for the best organization and in front of the best fans in the NFL,” Elliott wrote on Instagram.

Elliott, 28, recorded career highs in tackles (108) and fumble recoveries (three) in 15 games (14 starts) last season. He was playing in the first season of a two-year, $6 million contract.

He has totaled 395 tackles, five fumble recoveries and four interceptions in 72 career games (64 starts) with the Baltimore Ravens (2019-21), Detroit Lions (2022), Miami Dolphins (2023) and Steelers. He was selected by the Ravens in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
