Jonah Winston is following big brother Jameis Winston to Florida State.

The younger Winston is ranked as a three-star wide receiver in the Class of 2026 by the 247Sports composite. He had offers from about two dozen schools, primarily in the South, including seven in the Southeastern Conference.

He announced his commitment Saturday night, shortly after Seminoles upset No. 8 Alabama 31-17 in the opener for both teams. Florida State finished 2-10 last season.

“The real question is, ‘Why not FSU,'” Jonah Winston told Warchant.com, a Florida State-centered website. “I love this program, and it’s been that way for a long time! FSU treats me like family, and that’s really what we are. … It’s really cool, man. Been at FSU it feels like my whole life. And to have the chance to join this amazing program and bring it back to where it used to be is a blessing.”

Listed at 5-foot-9 and 155 pounds by 247Sports, he plays at Hoover High School in Birmingham, Ala. He scored 11 touchdowns in 2023, according to 247Sports.

Jameis Winston played quarterback at Florida State from 2013-14 and won the Heisman Trophy and a national title following the 2013 season. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, he now is a backup quarterback for the New York Giants.

Florida State’s 2026 class now contains 23 recruits and is headlined by five-star cornerback Chauncey Kennon from Sarasota, Fla.
