Draft Dreams: Hawks and Mavericks Eye Lottery Luck After Play-In Exits

As the 2025 NBA Play-In Tournament concludes, the Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks find themselves shifting focus from playoff aspirations to draft prospects. Their recent eliminations have positioned them within the NBA Draft Lottery, setting the stage for potential franchise-altering selections.

Draft Dynamics: Hawks and Mavericks’ Lottery Prospects

The conclusion of the Play-In Tournament has finalized the draft lottery odds for the 2025 NBA Draft. The Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards, and Charlotte Hornets each hold a 14.0% chance of securing the top pick. The New Orleans Pelicans follow closely with a 12.5% probability.

The Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets have 10.5% and 9.0% chances, respectively. The Toronto Raptors stand at 7.5%, while the San Antonio Spurs have a 6.0% likelihood.

The Dallas Mavericks, after their Play-In Tournament exit, possess the 11th-best odds in the lottery, with an 8.5% chance of landing in the top four and a 1.8% probability of obtaining the first overall pick. The Atlanta Hawks, via a pick from Sacramento, have a 3.8% chance at a top-four selection and a 0.8% chance at the top pick.

This year’s draft is anticipated to be headlined by Duke’s Cooper Flagg, a standout freshman expected to declare and be a top pick. Flagg’s potential entry adds significant intrigue to the lottery proceedings, with teams eager to secure a player of his caliber.

The NBA Draft Lottery is scheduled for May 12, 2025, where the final order will be determined, setting the course for the draft on June 25-26.
