Bilibili qualifies for bracket-stage berth at LoL MSI

Bilibili Gaming qualified for a bracket-stage berth with a 3-0 victory over G2 Esports on Saturday in the play-in stage of the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational in Vancouver.

G2 Esports moved on to Round 3 on Sunday against GAM Esports, which outlasted FURIA 3-2 in Round 2 on Saturday. They will battle for the last bracket-stage slot.

The $2 million event features two teams from each League of Legends region — China, Korea, Pacific, the Americas and Europe-Middle East-Africa.

Gen.G Esports, T1, Anyone’s Legend, CTBC Flying Oyster, FlyQuest and KOI were seeded directly into the bracket stage.

The other four teams — Bilibili Gaming, FURIA, G2 Esports and GAM Esports — have been battling in the play-in stage for the final two bracket-stage berths.

All matches in the play-in and the double-elimination bracket stage are best-of-five. The winner of the grand final on July 12 will earn $500,000 and a spot in the $5 million League of Legends World Championship, to be played this fall in China.

Bilibili Gaming’s sweep over G2 Esports featured a 35-minute win on blue, followed by victories in 30 and 33 minutes, both on red.

GAM Esports was pushed to the limit by FURIA, which dropped the opening map in 45 minutes on red before roaring back with wins in 27 and 28 minutes, also on red. GAM Esports, however, then won on red in 35 and 37 minutes.
