Logan O’Hoppe hit a home run with a career-high five RBIs as the Los Angeles Angels held on for an 11-9 victory over Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday.

Kershaw made his season debut following multiple offseason surgeries, giving up five runs on five hits in four innings. In his first start since Aug. 30, 20204, he walked three and struck out two on 83 pitches.

Taylor Ward and Matthew Lugo also hit home runs and Kenley Jansen recorded four outs for the save against his former team, his eighth. Reid Detmers (1-2) gave up a run in two innings and earned the win.

The Angels clinched their first series victory at Dodger Stadium since taking a two-game set in 2019. The visitors won 6-2 on Friday and the series wraps on Sunday.

Andy Pages and Enrique Hernandez hit home runs for the Dodgers and Freddie Freeman added four hits.

Kershaw labored early as the Angels loaded the bases with one out in the first inning on a single from Nolan Schanuel and walks to Ward and Jorge Soler. O’Hoppe followed with a two-run single and Lugo added an RBI double for a 3-0 lead.

The Dodgers tied it in the bottom of the first inning when Mookie Betts and Freeman singled with one out and Pages hit a home run to center field, his ninth.

The Angels moved back in front in the third inning on Ward’s leadoff home run, his 11th. They increased the advantage to 5-3 in the fourth inning on a Zach Neto sacrifice fly.

The Dodgers pulled within 5-4 in the fourth when Hernandez hit a home run, his seventh. They jumped in front 6-5 in the sixth when rookie Dalton Rushing doubled in a run and Michael Conforto scored on a wild pitch. Later in the inning, Rushing scored when Shohei Ohtani grounded into a double play against Detmer.

O’Hoppe’s go-ahead three-run home run in a five-run seventh came off right-hander Kirby Yates (3-2), who later departed with a hamstring injury. Nolan Schanuel and Kevin Newman also had RBI hits in the inning.

The Dodgers pulled within 10-9 on RBI singles from Rushing in the seventh and Max Muncy in the eighth. Jansen escaped a bases-loaded jam with two outs in the eighth by getting Conforto to ground out then worked around a single in the ninth.
