Martin Necas provided a thrilling climax to Tuesday night’s showdown, netting the deciding goal with a mere 29 seconds remaining, propelling the Carolina Hurricanes to an exhilarating 6-4 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers. This marked the seventh consecutive triumph for the Hurricanes, who witnessed contributions from Jack Roslovic, Jordan Martinook, Eric Robinson, and Jackson Blake. Seth Jarvis punctuated the win with an empty-net goal in the final moments.

Necas, known for his knack for delivering game-winning goals in overtime, demonstrated his prowess in regular time, scoring his team-leading seventh goal of the season.

Travis Konecny led the charge for the Flyers, scoring two goals and assisting on two others. Additional goals came courtesy of Morgan Frost and Owen Tippett. Despite trailing 2-1, 3-1, and 4-3 at different junctures, the Flyers showcased relentless resilience.

Flyers’ Kolosov Stands Tall Despite Defeat

Aleksei Kolosov, standing between the pipes for the Flyers, made 28 stops. In contrast, the Hurricanes’ Pyotr Kochetkov had a challenging evening, letting in four goals on a mere 16 attempts.

Flyers’ Power Play Continues to Impress on the Road

Konecny’s opening period goal marked the eighth power-play goal the Flyers have scored in seven away outings this season. Despite their struggles in total goals, with barely 31 to their name, their road power play operations rank among the top six in the league.

Unexpected Contributor Stepping Up for the Hurricanes

Following the loss of several key forwards in the offseason, the Hurricanes have found an unexpected hero in rookie Jackson Blake. The youngster continues to make a significant impact, scoring his fourth goal of the season.

Crucial Turning Point

A late third-period penalty against Hurricanes’ left wing William Carrier provided the Flyers with an opportunity to steal the game with a power play. However, the advantage was short-lived, as Emil Andrae was penalized for holding just 17 seconds later.

Resilient Hurricanes Overcome Early Setbacks

Despite conceding the opening goal for the fourth time this season, the Hurricanes demonstrated remarkable resilience, coming from behind to secure victory on each occasion.

What’s Next?

The Flyers will head to Tampa Bay for their next challenge on Thursday, while the Hurricanes will wrap up their four-game homestand against Pittsburgh on the same day.
