Minnesota guard Anthony Edwards left the Timberwolves’ playoff game against the Golden State Warriors Thursday night in Minneapolis after sustaining a sprained left ankle on a drive to the rim, but the All-Star returned to the floor to start the second half and helped his team win 117-93.

Edwards went out with 5:56 left in the first half when Warriors forward Trayce Jackson-Davis inadvertently stepped on his left ankle. Edwards stayed on the court for a while before the Timberwolves took a timeout to allow him to limp to the locker room at his own pace. He owned seven points in 15 minutes at that juncture.

A short time later, Minnesota deemed Edwards’ return as questionable.

With Minnesota holding a 56-39 halftime lead and looking to even their best-of-seven Western Conference semifinal series at one game apiece, Edwards warmed up at halftime and started the third quarter. He wound up scoring 13 second-half points as the Timberwolves rolled to victory.

Edwards finished with 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists in 34 minutes. He shot 6-for-13 from the floor and posted a game-high +21 plus/minus rating.
